Iron Infusion

Iron infusions are usually used to treat iron deficiency anaemia. This deficiency is typically treated with dietary changes and iron supplements, but in some cases, your GP might recommend iron infusions instead. If you are visiting our practice for an iron infusion you can view our preparation instructions below.

Iron Infusion Preparation Information

Location
Turbot Street Medical Centre is located within the Spring Hill Marketplace at 375 Turbot Street, Spring Hill. We are located on Level 1 above the Priceline pharmacy.

Parking
There is 2 hours free parking onsite for patients.

Initial Consultation
An initial consultation is not required if you have obtained a referral letter from your usual GP. Please advise our friendly reception staff which pathology company provided your most recent pathology tests so that we can download your results for our doctor to review prior to your infusion.

Arrival
Please arrive 10 minutes prior to your appointment time at the medical centre. This allows us the opportunity to ensure we have all of your correct details.

If you are purchasing a Ferinject infusion from the Priceline Pharmacy downstairs, please arrive 20 minutes early at the Marketplace to ensure you have enough time to make your purchase before your appointment. It is best to contact the pharmacy prior to your appointment to ensure they have sufficient stock available.

Duration
The duration of the procedure is generally around 1 hour, therefore, please allocate time accordingly.

Cost
Our current fees for an iron infusion can be obtained by contacting our friendly reception team. If you have a valid Medicare card, you will receive a rebate which can be processed after you pay.
